[2:04] Ask jessica so as you know we just holder listeners a little bit about us the professional as a rock star mother tell us a little bit more about what family looks like for you.

[2:15] Send me family is just that try not support system those people weather its your actual family or the family that you.

Accumulated your lifestyle and your life time but family to me is that support system that you can lean on any and all times so that's really important to me.

[2:34] Absolutely couldn't agree with you more i often say that as a theme on the podcast you really have to leave until support mechanisms that community.

Just another thing that we santa podcast is what is your favorite aspect of michigan as a michigan native i believe yes yes.

[2:50] Gosh there are so many exams but i would have to say is the seasons you were frozen right now currently.

But even through that link i just i love you season the experience at the end and i will have to say are beautiful.

Where are so fortunate to have those lakes and i appreciate them even more now that i am willing to buy thirty es.

[3:11] Absolutely i think its a well deserved saying what you look at different places across the country i think there's a lot of recognition for the.

Great lakes here in this beautiful state that we have what's your point,

it is a little rough when is the frozen tundra right now yeah it's perfect that being said jessica out like i had said earlier your wellness you have a degree in holistic nutrition but your also just really great.

Add empowering and educating inspiring the community of the mother is here in south eastern michigan tell us more about your story and what more a.

[3:48] Will it thank you first of all i appreciate that and,

hey just a quick snapshot of my background i didn't grow up on a farm in southern california.

Yeah for my own food i grew up here in michigan and the midwest.

[4:03] A very traditional midwest up bringing and through that experience i think people eventually when they find health.

They find it to experience that day how i m looking for a solution that potentially.

You know your regular traditional medicine doesn't help so for me it was

you know in my early twenties i have gone directly to school to study biochemistry i wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon because i was an athlete and my life trying to buy it let me in ten days and needed surgery and type always really appreciated it.

[4:35] That format is sending a billion fix the body in the bone since i love that unit the spine the strength i feel like so much of health and wellbeing as you would know or getting an expert in.

Com from just our bodies and everything underneath and so.

[4:51] I'm a couple years into my bio can major i didn't decide to shift gears because something didn't set right with me at the time and.

[4:59] I knew that wasn't right path to go down so id like a hard to read it ended up studying.

Journalism public relations with a minor in communications and after graduating from university i wanted to add the entertainment industry and i did entertainment PR.

Really fast paced celebrity isn't very click lifestyle and.

No clemson glamour i was working till two in the morning and eating dinner at two am when we get home to toronto at five am and i would wake up and have to back in the office to collect news clip ins in and

through that experience i quickly was burning myself would i know someone that with milk

frappuccino lactase and all the really bad things that weren't serving the end i would notice these panic attacks coming in on anxiety and.

How is the young healthy

female so why was this happening in the first correlation i found was thru eating meat and i do i get back to eating really poorly sourced meat

and so at that time i didn't completely plant-based and i was vegan for a many years i was ravi getting beer and michigan which was very difficult,

nati cooks boots for a long time and um i did that just to try and find.

[6:14] What was happening over the mechanics my body what i need to do to get myself to optimal wellness and if i was actually plant-based for almost a decade until i got pregnant with my son

and i noticed my body was craving foods and meets and bone broth sell through this journey though what i found was,

i have a call in and i definitely had a connected helping people so i knew that i needed to go back to school and i studied holistic nutrition.

Can i choose technician because i knew that it was more than just what's on your plate i knew that the foods were deep in you that,

the connection to our spirit our food is not community which holistic nutrition and braces all of that was worrying meaningful connections and finding your try weather at b.

No other wellness professionals weather it's busy miles which happens to be my focus in area and through that you know i did,

embark on a different journey and just as up within the last year and i like my full time career to be a stay at home mom.

Can i know eventually i would want to do something i did know to b so quickly.

I did start my journey in september and it's january now i just hit thirty five thousand views on that time so i think it was the right choice.

Alfred will so many things to honor and acknowledge their jessica i mean first of all just thank you for being vulnerable of sharing your story.

[7:38] Congratulations with your family how your sign becoming pregnant that's a challenge in itself

these days which made talk about more later here yet making that transition from being a very driven motivated highly productive individuals especially a woman in today's culture and then transitioning into the home life which i think i talk to my wife about this and talk to it.

Patience at the office who are mothers it's oftentimes.

There's the tension lol they want to do both or they want to be able to do everything at home or its like i've gone through all this education in my life and i work so hard and then.

Now my employer is just not interested and value in family so i just tell us a bit more about me but that transition was like for you what motivated you and then,

if anyone willing to check out jessica is instagram page that have stories they can follow along with your life where i really enjoy,

just the way that you're so open and share everything you are doing to elevate the lifestyle of other mothers in the area for hotels more about that.

[8:43] Yeah so you know i was thinking i was in a career as working for a healthy snack company actually kind healthy snacks but i'm sure most people are very familiar with and what kind of six years i'm not i was in a very

senior level role sell dream job and then i got pregnant with my data well.

I guess i should rewind before i got pregnant with my son i did struggle to get pregnant with my son and i went very fast paced life.

[9:10] Again i'm traveling and airplanes and i was definitely great at that time so i thought its blades

this is so much more than just food riots there is lifestyle that is the environment there is that family element i'm there's a lot that goes into that so don't want to become pregnant with my daughter.

I know i was really happy in my current workplace by the level that i was at there was no way to scale back there was no way for part time there was no way to not be on a flight every other week travelling and i was just

the thought i was overwhelming and too much and then there was a little bit of a health scare that we had

when is party with my daughter they had found a cyst which is very common but they did find a cyst on her brain and it was really mitxari nice so i knew.

I'm no the medical terminology and not moment i call when i said i'm not going back,

do you have swear i'm not doing that it's just the stress while i'm doing that

family is most important and i knew that and that moment that it was like a clothes box so i was grateful enough to be on to make that choice

stay home with our two children and my employer was was wonderful about it but there was no way to there was an important slate way to do both and you think you can have it all that maybe just not at the same time not.

Kind of the place that i'm coming to.

[10:35] I think we live in such a stressful culture is stressful life style that it makes it really difficult to get.

High quality dense nutrition.

Into our bodies into ourselves that we can just break down a simulated move through us answer these that some of the things that we talked about here the contact.

And i just from watching your videos from watching your instagram stories things like that.

You really enjoy doing that for you show women like hey this is what i'm doing think about doing how you can do this yourself tell me more about that.

Yeah so when i decided to kind of start you turn key it was more of that

overwhelmed because i couldn't keep up with the messages i was getting so close during the instagram stories i had friends from high school reached out as me a friend from college current friends emailing me texting me all the time all hours of the night

asking questions because of my nutrition background in medical background they wanted help me get no where starts and i turn to my husband

video i love this platform i think i need to start something simply as a means to an end because i can't keep up with the messages i don't ignore people,

i want to have a place to send them to you.

And so i use my instagram stories is that you know kind of aggregate all the common questions i get help people start because that's the biggest question i get is,

where do i start and how do i start.

[12:05] I think feeling alone or feeling like i talk to mom to say this all the time they feel they want to eat healthy with their kids and social pressures and being out with friends and school events and social events like.

[12:18] There's just all this pressure to cheat and not eat well answer they tell me they feel like they're still under isolated inside thank.

[12:26] Things like you're doing me a really helps women feel like i am not the only one you know i can do this i can figure out different solutions that are officially affected ben sustainable.

[12:35] Can i get one thing i'll look at with just consistency over a long period of time that is silky it's it's great to do something for one day or a week or two we expect.

[12:45] Especially me a lot of women what shes talking about releasing weight just to feel better than just a few more productive.

Have a better mental emotional state if your gonna try and release some weight you gotta be doing something consistent for a long period of time what you're not.

[12:59] Yeah i've got a lot of at on that some of them pull in behind

end of omnis space time and it's very common to right now in january detox write it on pinterest to travel to every state tax and and and,

i love you talk state but i think it needs to be in micro doses everyday

i feel blessed every morning wake up having warm water with lemon that will serve you exponentially more than doing a ten day cleanse that you're just cannot maintain that lifestyle,

tell my cousin you know the first thing when you wanna do it specially when they want to get pregnant or after they had a baby i wanna lose weight

ray and i don't even cook that number it to me and how i feel how my clothes fit you know

my strength and energy and soak it to then its a lifestyle change what is one small step at a time it is what i called the crowd out method

so you want to have those pancakes and waffles with your hands in the weekend let's just make them healthy let's help me find them and crowd the best quick and your gonna see the pounds

and it's gonna be a long term change for something that you're just gonna cycle back in and go back and double tap.

I got a lot of questions about which diet is right for me whether it's accurate yellow carb high protein that.

[14:20] And how much people can meal plan and prep and all these things what's your professional opinion against specifically we're talking about.

The woman who is in her thirties with a couple of kids just as stressed out mom and she's wondering what she can do to have really consistent.

What sugar levels and not feel so starving you know she tries to go for a longer period of time or something like that.

[14:43] Yes i would.

Yeah i think that there are certain diet and do really well with certain populations in certain ranges and also the baseline of where somebody is starting and.

[14:56] You go to your primary care doctor and he said i don't feel that great and they will you know you just need to lose some weight and

just work out a little bit more and that's that's not always the solution and that the cutout not that is

is my favorite way to do an aviation it's kind of a lemonade maybe it is a lemonade and process grains and see how you feel lemonade that quarter and a genetically engineering maybe it is reducing your meat intake seeing how you feel and they're going from there adding things back in and i think

that's not cute

it's a very popular i've done it i benefit from a keto diet i'm alive people do especially feel some blood sugar issues that you're somebody who needs to kind of reset your

go johnny could really help also so could intermittent fasting and intermittent fasting doesn't have to be as scary as

stop eating at six PM any don't need to get to eight o'clock in the morning but i'm not a fan of a long term diet for

consecutive months so you want to try keto and see how they feel if it serves you if it makes you feel good you can maintain that to me

the best style that you can do is a tablet plans on your plates i say eighty percent plants a small portion of protein and a small portion of carbohydrates in that doesn't have to be,

your weed your gluten in it could be from a potato from india and i love you know.

[16:25] What about squash this time of year i love root vegetables that you're all of those wonderful sources of carbs hey.

[16:34] No that's actually jessica thank you for that i'll respond with two things yourself.

I love intermittent fasting i recently died n do it because it's way to check it out for myself to see if i can recommended for patients and everything and,

in terms of timing of when we eat something really important what we're getting to.

But i really think there's something about timing are neurology timing when we eat during the day.

When is the chiropractor this really gets into the deep neurology of digestion of our parents sympathetic nervous system because when we eat more stressed out.

That's really not helping a serving is and it's creating.

Bad insulin responses in some sensitivity and i see me and all these three things here the thing on mission about the keto diet if you're a lady and it works awesome.

[17:25] I have seen that personally with my observations into really great firm answer when men can't starve themselves and not a bunch of carbs day just

lean out and trim out cuz they're like alright spartan warriors record.

[17:41] Women it's a little bit more stuff sometimes because as a woman feels like where the nutrients where's the food where's the store.

[17:50] Essentially it's.

Hey let's build out lets actually storm conserve in case we get pregnant type saying verses let's just leave and send out things like that so i'm not saying that everyone.

Hey historically speaking.

How far are ladies there is much more towards that verse now if your training if your exercising and just really activate think it can be great i'm a personal fan of some nutritional lifestyle tools.

Have you heard of data hi i just little things that can help shut the body into ketosis.

Where has it can be kinda difficult to get there naturally pick an era long time along time you had suggest some facts there but.

In ketosis you know sometimes for women who have really unstable blood sugar levels so it can be a great re-set

are there to do a quick reset because if you never in their life they're reaching for orioles every night at nine o'clock at night so for them to have to follow that diet and kinda for reset your body and the disk is the man that we speaking,

is really scary and women these days and it's masquerade in as.

Depression one in four women and child is currently on antidepressants effects that has opportunity um is really scary and the fact that we are medicaid.

[19:12] Willy unix group or a human population right now in a way and we don't have a ton of long term study is the CEO and.

Display sami is sometimes can be the reason why somebody was feeling depressed and anxious because they're blood sugar levels are so irregular that its masquerade

schizophrenia it's masquerade as public attacks is your hair falling out and you go to your mum,

find your regular doctor visits function functional medicine doctor and they say like ohh you know you're losing your harry cat sleep at night feeling stressed like

you know let's get on antidepressants do not checking your thyroid your hormones and so i do think kind of like starting going back to basics weather is so hot out method whether it's

add more plants weather is ketosis regardless of what it is and

alexa you're choosing your financing that serving you and you know the population of women that do benefit from ikea and it diet are those that really need a lot of help in reset most of woman in this day and age can benefit from daniel@fastee.im

crowding up the strip grains crawling out so i especially that so i'm not,

reset in the plastics in your home the makeup that were you thinking it of the list can go on and on and this is where it gets,

overwhelmed for what i need to start hey guys just wanted to take a moment and remind you that this podcast is brought to you by the michigan family wellness clinic.

[20:41] Read live in healthy environment families who can adapt to stress in their life in order to build a healthy family we start by caring for one person at a time if this message resonate with you,

can i invite you to schedule an online appointment at michigan family wellness dot com hey and if you're enjoying today's episode go ahead and share this podcast with someone else who can benefit from today's empowering conversation.

Alright guys lets get back to today's episode.

And that's why it's great to have a resource like this podcast like yourself to in order to guide these women because it can be so overwhelming.

And i think that can lead to a lot of anxiety and stress and depression like you're mentioning in much more of the mindset where.

[21:23] You probably dont have a deficiency in prozac it's not that you're lacking in sri.

It's that you got dysfunctional adaptive physiology and you have to do things naturally because as we know where jessica those kinds of medications i mean,

i'm already talking with people who are under twenty years old.

[21:43] And there is medications me know the long term effects me people go through withdrawl if they are trying get off them which is a big deal i wanted to ask me more about.

Can you talk through what this this is a big deal with anxiety depression thank.

Can you tell us more about your experience and what you did practically to overcome that high so i definitely after,

getting off me i noticed rains it and when i would have it in my pants by hand with t-mobile and it was so bad i couldn't hold on to it without shaking so,

i noticed that can directly from eating poorly source.

Animal protein i do it animal protein so i just played that out there because im not saying everyone needs to go rock but i noticed my triggers

and also a strict grains and so was not insured grades so once i kind of got all of that out of my life is that also amped up my yoga practice to my spiritual practice because all of those

find that

family that try that you open every podcast you open every podcast with this and i think its so important is fighting that feeling of community that helped slowly but surely my anxiety one day it was kind and,

it wasn't forever because after had my son i hadn't heard of postpartum anxiety and it came back and it said no.

[23:01] I managed to found the root cause but i know what is the anxiety

chef's overtime and your life style changes different trigger is the weather its calling through your phone all the time and the anxiety

x to be on top of everything comparison syndrome always trying to be like everyone in your scream

and i say that all the time but hey lifes focus on doing that in my instagram stories its age

this is what you see you too but this is really what's happening in my kitchen is a mess on the other hand it out because i haven't had a chance of two young children running around.

So i'm through fine in that regards i did notice that i there was a deeper.

There's something deeper going on with my anxiety add this is where you go in for your postpartum visit at six weeks after having a child and you take something not.

Kind of work second cosmo magazine quiz and i still want to check how you're feeling add it's that simple.

[24:01] Where medicaid women based on that quiz and that postpartum anxiety and work it's a very specific group of women and so

one thing that i think we need to focus on that auto immune disease is the menu different triggered postpartum after you have attacked you give birth so traumatic experience to the body which travel with no.

[24:22] Can sometimes end many times trigger autoimmune diseases and so i don't think that were checking women constantly and on a consistent basis for the motor cycle is

work were not three levels for

what is asking me to take a casa magazine quiz and from there will be seen on postpartum anxiety and depression jessica if someone is struggling with achieving those comprehensive lab.

Paano specifically so that is something that we doing here through the michigan family womens clinic so we have an NPI number and we can't.

That individuals that mother that lady with those comprehensive blood testing if they're struggling to get it from the internet or endocrinologist MD.

Because we need medical necessity in things like that so just want to say that a little.

Slide for another service that we offer here at the connect what's your point there to just got mean i couldn't agree more with the autoimmune conditions are just sky rockets.

And one thing i wanted to ask you about what i wish your pregnancy with your anxiety you are also receiving some products and so as a chiropractor a major fan super biased but i wanted to ask you.

[25:32] Because this goes into movements she mentioned yoga and exercises the chiropractor adjustment is literally movement for your spine and i wanted to ask if that had any.

[25:43] What's that for you or if you can look back on that and be like hey.

I felt a different one i was adjusted or this that the other what was your observation yeah so i think that director the struggle i found that i had a really you know add in some.

Great food and supplements and seven days are always the answer i want to preface that um,

but i added a lot of great foods i pay attention to my fertility and i know is that i was getting a lot of adjustments and there was certainly pulls.

My body specifically your my adrenal glands were usually exceptionally store and so my chiropractor at the time was doing a lot of address.

Casino floor and i think i had been lying to my masculine energy and i wish it out in the workforce and trying to do it all and focusing on my masculine energy and he said to me that my interview notes and mike

close enough self down and threw open in the lining my spine line and i'm kind of like you would know that but i would just like the dinner logical ability for my brain to be

the pathway to be open through the spine thru that through three months of very consistent talking once a week chiropractic care for three months straight which.

[27:03] That's a lot of it out for people are you do that alot are you don't know i was so committed to it and through that.

I just noticed that my entire energy in my ability to move through that three of my yoga practice

change likely sorry that's my security system is my yoga practice changed dramatically as i was well into my chiropractor.

I'm so glad to hear that that makes complete sense i hope people were tracking my sad if i were to add anything i really need your flight

it's all about the brain communicating better with the body when you talk about the lumbar plexus nerve the sacred places of nerves all of that's going to our god's.

Organs josh and even darken the reproductions of the uterus prostate and everything down there.

So when someone is struggling with fertility any kind of pain during pregnancy low back pain morning sickness things like that.

The simple act of removing the neurological interference via the chiropractor adjustment is profound and phenomenal articulate one more.

[28:06] Mechanism if you will need the actual movements of the spine of the giants.

Releases and end of a new trans men called yeah yeah heard of itself what i'm trying to do at the michigan family want disconnect here is elevate the profession from more than just

popping pray it will minister but you actually how can we find your nervous system increase your.

Paris sympathetic to decrease your send with fedex and just help yourself up so late

absolutely and i love that because you know right now no auto immune based out pacey our ability to diagnose but i think that through chiropractic care will allow the body to function

no way that was always my dick function what's the limit more about prenatal nutrition and nutrition during pregnancy what would be jessica is the major components or nutrients

for that season of life that period of life because as we know it can be really tough.

When were you trying to conceive or even during that season of pregnancy making sure we have enough of the proper nutrients and good enough nutrition both macros in my gross would love to hear your thoughts on that.

[29:20] Yes that's what are the first things that i would say to women who are trying to.

[29:25] Can you see if there considering is to get your thyroid checked out and see if you i love you guys offer that's incredible because it's hard to find a functional medicine doctor.

And.

A regular doctor who offers the flap that we're looking for many attempts are very surface level and i can return the normal range and i could use a little bit offended so i think that would help out.

[29:47] The exact opposite road that you wanna go on twenty one st to conceive so we really want to check the thyroid and.

Women currently in our space in my age group is under attack and it's,

it's a burden of the products that are off gas and that candles that were very inappropriate that were spray you know the foods that were either have been sprayed in the plastic that were drinking out of network

ian out of its very very scary and thyroid and liver are doing their best trying their hardest

j detox and keep my body alive but it's just not happening and we're out pacey net so the first thing that you can do is you can just,

it rained all and i try to make it as simple as possible for people

eat the rainbow and delete the same thing every single day and that's hard to do for myself cannot do it because i get a ride in the same solid order in on the same salmon recipe you really want to mix it up when you want it mixed up.

[30:47] Your nutrients so that you're getting all of your macros and mike rose from all of the foods that are out there so i was hit the first thing that we can do it

kinda get those screen.

Get stripped grains and not talking about your self that's why your sprouted grains so beautiful and you definitely wont have them in and women who are pregnant,

you need the grains your body means that your body needs to take that energy you're growing a human but i would encourage you to

get this idea your diet get the strip greens out of your diet get the high tide your diet get that far is fishers i get that you know

antibiotic chicken out of your diet eat clean as possible

traditional food think about what your grandparents eight and it's close to that as possible and it's enough get your pastor his eggs tried it local trade focus on the foods that are high in the middle

avocados are high in fat your ass that butter is

i would encourage women to eat those what type of food when i wanna can see if i can rearrange so many great things there are guys if you're listening this go ahead and hit that.

Rewind fifteen seconds rewind thirty seconds cuz there was a lot of great information there that i think you guys should really read listen to.

[32:01] I especially just like all of the hype nutrition density foods colleen is one of my big ones there fir nutrition during infertility in pregnancy i love you discussion on the road and actually wanted to go into a little bit of a,

helping women connect with you guys can just,

take both hands right underneath your job on pretty much is high as you can go to your fascination with bones and me start to feel the high in bone it's actually based bonus flooding.

It's only bone that is not attached particularly with another bounce that kind of first then you feel there in the neck and then this is actually what i do,

as part of our manual palpitations i already examine it it just it's remarkable to me when i'm talking with a lady who's going in for a fire evacuation.

And the physician never did.

Emmanuel already examples that it's just a simple it so easy thing would just lost this whole mindset of being able to touch people safely so he starte there up at the bone right underneath the job

you slowly work your way down eventually you come to all a little bit of a wider part of the throat in the next.

[33:10] Send those to you can a flush the parts there right by me below your adams apple if you well.

Is the actual style red wine itself there's a right side in the left side in this little thing in the center that connects you called the smith's that's not so much important but.

You can really start to do if you can't pay your rent you can feel if it's an error an wont be or if it's more soft inflatable and this can give you some insight into you.

How is my thyroid actually function it really should be soft and playboy here feeling now just feeling grouchy so i will leave in the greater belt i don't see that time.

We do you live in michigan which are soil is new train depleted specifically i'm.

[33:53] I don't have a discussion there but when i put in for your thyroid is going to start to change its size and function,

versus its adaptive physiology there is not one of the things i love to start doing just to help people get a sense of.

Where the ideas what's going on right side vs left side and then i honestly jessica if if there needs to be additional imaging done i love ultrasound.

[34:18] I always tell people especially if they going for imaging with extra for like a cervical spine x-ray do they need to.

Think about shielding the road somehow i know it's tough.

[34:30] Yes there are certain tissues and our bodies are is our reproductive organs are get me these things are very radio sensitive me don't want to be a loving them with extra dose.

That being said sometimes we do need to make a referral out for more imaging for the thyroid i mentioned ultrasound and we also do a lot of what testing to really figure out what's going on with the order itself and i think this is a really good topic that

applies to a lot of women especially when they have symptoms.

But the labs come back normal and dr said that's all you had your crazy are they just brush him off so harris falling out of energy and your body weight but here in the normal range and.

[35:11] I love the connection not being able to know where it is two point two eight to be able to empower women women have.

[35:20] Necesitan this is it right now if given over a lot of the power of your body whether you want to control to a doctor

we disconnect her body and your the first thing i'm saying your fertility journey is it okay to be their body temperature taker temperature every morning know your cycle

take that empower me in your body you know your body that we are the experts on your cycle and your body when you go to your doctor you will like you know my pill with every twenty eight days before distant power in ourselves and i love that

being able to feel the non working thyroid and being able to know your fertility know these things are in power rain on a deeper level and then then we know it.

Yeah but the ability to feed the brain and the body connection

israel we all know this is real and it's mind over matter and so taking that into your own hands is really important and there's a lot of really great use supplementary should we start with food and accomodation cuts like you sad

arse oil is depleted and people say the challenge me about supplemental term.

[36:22] I try my best i just found this weekend when i eat today because i get the sexy supplement question everyone's know the quick fix to the supplement and let me tell you.

[36:32] There's no quick fix whatever.

I eat very balanced meal but i'm not perfect meals three times a day at three hundred sixty five so i do need to supplement with that oil and for our thyroid barley grass juice powder in spirit who are you

power house says and if

if women can do and i have a feeling a video on what not to do it shameless plug back i have a video on how i was able to get.

[37:02] You can see if any progress on the first try once i got all of this into practice

i have a video with i can send you the link if you want to add into the show now it's i would love for people to check that out because it's really simple tips and barley grass juice powder and hawaiian spell are so powerful for art

diorite and andesite you can take these they are stats nine

a simple man that you're taking it from the ground at something that you can add an every single day and green shoes in the sprinkler and everyday

you know what is a promise you if your dedicated to a twenty eight days' notice your energy when no yes your so right that's cool right you know what it is

that land in there

the electricity in the balance that's the one thing people say like my fingers when starting a little bit faster and you know the density of it

i feel so selfish its been hydrated and also the way that people explain its me and have to a great just a simple adjustments and no supplements

going back to the chiropractic side of things too just in the neurology the innovation of the road from the cervical spine from the brick yard access.

[38:12] Major major major changes and improvements can be seen just by restoring proper range of motion in proper alignment.

Soooo that part of the body specifically with al-amin.

A lot of ladies lot of women especially carry tension in there shoulders and so who are just getting everything cleared out there is just really helpful especially for their stress levels too.

You mentioned like that the magic supplement the special supplemental at that time that i like to use as pants or like the only thing that cures everything.

Because i had this crap for my patients and that's like a lux there's nothing out there people love to talk about tibor and i can't like that

all these great things which are fantastic can help let the fruits be thy food and leaves behind madison red black the reds beat that medicine right however i would say if there was one,

for me it would be sleeps i'm always asking your patience.

Are you having a good night's rest can you take a nap in the middle of the day can you even have good bowel movements are you doing great number one number two things like that.

Because that's so important to me as a chiropractor because those paras sympathetic nervous system function.

When were stressed out and sympathetic stress through the roof you're not gonna fall asleep your cortisol is gonna be up through the roof.

Can you got to be about that's what your body heals that's what are sales turnover is one sleeping but if not sleeping.

[39:34] That's not happening so don't sleep is free you don't have to pay for it but they're can be such greater things along with chiropractic adjustments that can really help us get a good night's rest.

[39:44] Absolutely i agree is the

i joke with contractor that when i take my son in for an adjustment is my favorite de casi sleep so that you're speaking to women in ten moms about the sleep spray and every time i post a video that include sleep i was kind of chocolate and i

posted a video about it my favorite tips to combat stress and sleep is number one and number one lasts because

i feel like a fraud like that has no clothes and i couldn't find video clips night before i was with my children legitimately from one until four in the morning straight pot.

[40:21] I took a nap i had had my son up at school had to take a nap i call my mom to come over so i can lay down for forty five minutes because i can't function without sleep and yes i suppose to sleep in the sun goes down i'm

should i go to bed early and i know i'm in bed many nights by eight forty five at night because i recognize that my daughter is your receipt and she's gonna wake up at two in the morning to feed so if i go to bed at nine or nine thirty that gives me a really good stretch yourself

you know the dishes and all that important your sleep is the most important so getting to bed early if that's what did you have to go to bed when your kids go to bed,

not something that's a choice you can make it sat for optimal health at one thing i agree with that one saying the issue.

Is free and it's sleep with jessica i am not a mother so it's sometimes difficult for me to connect with this thing but i just expressing the comments and the thoughts that i here.

From others and women in our office and one of them is just feeling guilty about being so tired and so chronically fifty.

[41:25] That there taking naps during the day they're missing out on these precious moments.

Whether it's with newborns infants or even there kids but maybe a bit older and there is this feeling of this pressure.

[41:38] How do you cancel or advise when was that in terms of mindset thing do you do,

you get into that hoe like a mental side of things with lexi così magari flex is in counseling or do you pretty much keep it with a nutrition in the lifestyle.

[41:53] So i think that will all that fit within my lifestyle big he is.

[41:58] I find that i know for myself and when i'm not practicing i'm what i preach that i feel resentful right now

sleep and i feel guilty and i feel short fused i feel all the things that you don't want to feel as a mother you want to feel excited and happy and i also feel those comparisons is like in paris and really crepes no i'm looking instagram and i

i look back and say i'm projecting onto them because

i'm not taking my own self care my hands and i'm not taking control of that so the first step that i take it.

We gotta ask for help writing with conditioners women to do it all we can do it all rights and do not let yourselves but really.

When you were never left alone with the baby.

[42:44] We were raising babies after all we were in our homes and apartments for eight hours alone with the baby those things never happened until now so,

we are asked to raise children the way that we did a hundred years ago in a way that has never been done before so first i meant to ask for help.

I missed saturday if you need to take an hour nap you need to do that for you and your children if you need to go to yoga if you need to go get your adjustment is.

[43:13] Two weekends ago i went and i had my nutrition response therapy testing for my chiropractor and i had all of that done and how to reset for myself for the new year and i took two hours when i got my adjustment.

I had my levels checked i had my muscle tested i have all of my new protocol but your by protocols secondary to my sleep,

my hydration my nutrition all of those your first and then my supplement and you know it second to that but you know i do have to take care of myself and getting adjusted i'm not doing my yogurt

every morning i meditate for ten min and my daughter wakes up i meditate with her there and it's not perfect

what have to do it for self care is huge can't agree more about your plain about community and not just people taking care of each other and how

when we do things differently than we did under ten years ago our friends from church actually had this woman just delivered her seconds and so she went for her follow up visit with her doctor and when the person doesn't always do you feel sad

recorded and she was able to stay without hesitation just wondering yeah speak eyes.

[44:18] We do this is one example i know a lot of communities do some other things in terms of meals right so it can be difficult to prepare a meal for your family especially when you're trying to do things all authentic traditional easter to have it be healthy.

So we have these like online scheduling program is that just people rotate preparing a meal me bring it over to them.

Add ernie specific days and times and then whenever fits best with your you know she's vegetarian and sell meeting their nutritional needs one way that community helps a mother,

especially with her second because that transition from one to two you can be on a big one from what i'm told essentially sale.

That's beautiful that's beautiful in that she has that and it no woman will probably not since it's an apple in cali that lunch should i expect from experience so that's how my credit coach um.

I don't take clients currently at this specific you talked about our flight i'm currently not seeing clients i have people asking me i'm live but i'm trying to help a larger platform right now and help um

marvin not that one i want to get back to that but that's how is people is selfcare and really

taking care of yourself enough to say this cuz i'm in speaking with you but

when i go see my chiropractor i have to come into the office and see you i'm really excited i would love to help let's do only and hour away hey.

[45:44] We have to do it because i noticed my sleep

would you compare george smith and my sleep is so much better and i have my muscle testing done and i know what that peek under the hood and if i can get a blood panel right now if a woman you know your primary care doctor so you can get a blood panel because your nearest your hormones are off,

go find a chiropractor can look and give you that snapshot of this

set your primary care doctor can't give you right now because that is just as important in you're gonna get more information from them from now on your regular primary care doctor can't keep you there gotta run deeper more in

intensive and base of test in a way that's gonna give you are great

turn snapshot an integer and a consistent until what is interest rate on your adrenal glands are working really hard and your projects or level where can i get two on and natural

remedy for that and also on a diet a lifestyle that supports,

what is matt coaching clients at the academy bene enjoy family time and a great workout,

alright families let's jump into today's interview welcome families to the interview portion of today's podcast my yes on the show today is none other then then now welcome back to the podcast bandits great.

[1:51] Hey thanks dr ma happiness speak with you.

[1:55] Well then it's been a privilege and a pleasure having the chance to work alongside you in the training at power over the past few months and i always feel like if i wanna learn something new i just need to be within ear shot of,

BK because he is always teaching the people around him he's a really impactful leader.

[2:14] For sure sell band i'm excited to bring your expertise and speciality back to the nf w podcast and i want to encourage everyone to circle back and sync up with the fundamentals and foundation,

how's the mission vision and values of power performance gym by listening to episode two with ben app and coach dan.

So i can't wait to jump into today's discussion on how the training coaching nutritional pearls and mindset mentoring.

Can you help the woman mothers and families to elevate the health and wellness

that being said we do have two questions that we always ask god share on the podcast i've just hold your family is a little bit about you is the professional but one of the core values hear on the podcast his family so tell us more about you as the person and what does family look like for you

well i'm i really appreciate the introduction to think that i am surrounded by people who i learn a daily basis is amazing.

Will you ask me about what does family mean to me well um you kind of mentioned it so family is not only the literal family i my husband's father.

My husband to renee and not bother to sofia i'm a family is also extends to family to me is its about people.

[3:33] I'm a like minded people that embrace on one another's possessions people that are encouraged and we feed off one another so,

i'm gonna that even what you do for a living and your expertise and the fact that we work simultaneously towards one common goal.

[3:53] What is the help people that is what family means to me so i mean i got somebody would do just about anything for all my clients are definitely on that list so.

I believe on your performance jam it's help me create a extended families from.

[4:11] Outstanding you know that i do say this is every episode of the podcast usually later at the end but i'm gonna go ahead and say here now because it does just resonate with everything that you're saying and that is.

We can do far more together than we could ever do apart and i just really wanna drive that home and under square that's another thing i love to say here on the podcast band is that we are smitten with the middle so i always ask my gas.

She what they love about michigan well i mean i think we all agree that we love doing what they refer to as the four seasons i think we get more of three of them so i'm okay i'm a humble,

i'll take the three season self i'm i definitely loved a variety of outdoor activities and other destinations that michigan offers and i have to embarrassingly admit i'm dr kyle that.

This number was the first time i visited london getting to in michigan and i'm sorry my half my heart is still there i mean what,

i just want an amazing community what an amazing vibrations that don't know the local businesses have been in what u t.

That's really given to us and it's just i mean assistant couple of hours up the road so i'm every time i seem to visit a different location.

[5:29] I'm up michigan i get it i got more smitten every time so i think my arm my love for michigan,

i mean i guess as i age and as you know my values change as again spending quality time and with the family and with friends and.

I meant and what a great state job to offer a lot of opportunities for fern i just activities but for i just reviewed

fantastic ben and i love him mention letting sunday and just cycling back to what you said earlier about you know the seasons the seasons change i think the joke with you know people out in california for example is that it's so terrible seventy two degrees and sunny all year round and sell,

i do appreciate that along with you that a variety that we have that diversity of temperature in all the different colors that we get so i'm right with you there

now all right then let's go ahead and get more in depth because i really want the women mothers and families listening,

get value from your experiences your expertise and unique prospective,

so like i said at the top i really want people to refer back to episode two and i'm gonna go ahead and drop a link in the show notes for everyone so you have the full version discussion,

in the mission vision and values of power performance gym i'm gonna send you guys back to episode two but ben can you right now just give us a short recap on those principles.

[6:54] As a foundation and then we can build our conversation from there to do my best to me you know why i went into business for myself i guess to look that today.

[7:04] I have to refer to it more of a cali you know that you don't know why you're always called to duty if you well.

I'm so again people who are motivated by helping people change lives i think they're all including yourself when we understand that calling and we don't always know why.

Maybe i started my business for just that just to start a business to do something on my own maybe it was a bad idea i'm not sure.

What did honestly has just taken out a life of its own and its something that i no longer have a choice of whether or not to participate in a it's more of a moral duty.

I'm very thankful that it duty that i love it's helping people and a variety of different ways.

And whatever success means to them what you know it's not from me to find success for the people around me i just help people feel successful,

i'm in your daily endeavors and so i'm i just can't really think of any other way to try to,

create a call to meet a business then.

Through helping others and so it some it's just been a pleasure we'll get the different business aspect semantics change the shape shift all the time and that's the difference between business and passion.

I'm but i been very important to hold the two together that performance gross i just mean that we're helping people on a deeper level so i.

[8:27] I think it's where i hate my hair

you know when you bring up such great points and i really wanna just highlight this line of thinking because i really believe that relates to what you're talking about here in terms of your approach with performance your culture at the company with the gym

and search if this idea is this perspective of the final.

And the infinite game not ok so i talked about this before and the podcast but let me outline again for listeners let's use the example of microsoft and apple okay i think most people are familiar with those are major companies but the idea is that.

When you look at the culture of microsoft okay they have a drawing be.

[9:08] Drive to harvard we beat apple you know that is the core or motivation of that company how can i forget people say is that i visit the company and not just cannot analyze it from three thousand five using all of that now.

I'm the opposite end of the spectrum you have a company like apple

and the focus with apple they're playing the infinite game so if microsoft is playing the finite game apple was playing a completely different game because what their focus is

yes how to help teachers or how do we help a specific group of

people unnatural and drive home his with performance with your coaching it's not about

man do we have enough squat racks already know do we have enough phone rollers or god we need this that was started how do we help.

[9:57] The people i love her that's the focus and i love that the culture i just feel perfect like i said to be around that culture on a daily basis would you agree with that one hundred percent i assumed that's why you when i enter

add we are working together we talked about before how to buy the tracks that tried so,

i no longer ask why the people that are in my life in my life i'm just thankful for them and is soon.

Did the purpose for it so i wanna know i wanna be willing to except whatever they're bringing to me and i hope that they are just as open as what i can bring to them so it's a it's.

Mutually rewarding it's almost been a mutual mentor ship

absolutely now been just kinda give us a general overview of how you got to where you are now and how does that translate or convert to working with the people that you're working with today help is being thanks

i can probably guarantee corporate industry.

[10:51] I'm headed my whole life played out for me i don't know what use call it stupidity or again so not really sure what i decided to leave the conference in the guarantees of the corporate world to i'm gonna start my own business and i'm.

Thankful that landed and nutrition i dont know why i didn't and so i'm it's just basically creating a certain value on that was built around service you know maybe i was,

i'm not focused on service maybe for a lack of knowledge maybe i was focused on this service and service as i can,

trending create security again so you can kind of help streamline your income for months to come.

But it just how i go about my day hes just now and again to the apprehension but i am.

I said has to be ima call in an ask to be doing well.

[11:42] Now take my arrogance to believe in the guaranteed lighting and how that converted into one hundred create a high level service but.

It's been through the service to other people and did i mention that has come back to me when i go what people have referred to as out of my way to church to get the best value that i can in whatever the situation is.

That's always seems to come back to me that always seems a little better thank you weather it's a hard weather is just seeing on the value of your product in peoples development.

I'm it just continues to motivate me ion one how much further can we go how much more can we do so i don't know that i've been particularly specialized in any aspect of the field but i believe.

My specialties do you live is in my willingness to do whatever it takes.

[12:30] It's my willingness to figure out whatever it takes and i reminded my clients i don't have to be the smartest person in the room i distinctly had to be resourceful and.

Through the contacts or of the education that we had where can i find those answer so i love being challenged with ummm new challenge.

Things i don't know any give me the opportunity to learn opportunity to apply the information and opportunity to see the room out every once.

Outstanding ben and again just to approach this conversation in the discussion we're having from the perspective of our listeners so let's say you know i haven't been satisfied with going in doing my daily thing at the planet fitness i was doing cross word for awhile off the cross fit gyms in i got injured can you tell me what makes

power performance different can you tell me what makes training with ben napping different really outline that far less nervous i think it would probably be better set of one of my clients answer that but since none of them here lol do my bas i want

i would really love to hear how bobby my articulate that but,

if i had to describe it on my own i believe from what makes us special is our needs based approach to human development so.

Yeah someone to leave another maybe they you know if it was entertaining enough for them you had mentioned maybe somebody got hurt.

[13:52] It always comes back to the question why you know why is this important to you,

why is working out important why is managing your pain important you because.

As much as i believe in my principles i have to be willing and open to understand.

[14:12] Their value system what makes things important to that one thing i take great pride in is.

Not been conditioned to associate me what person gets started i refer to it as i want.

Why does somebody wants into a new diet like to submit a launch into a new training program.

[14:31] What i tried to do as i tried to again b very thankful for the opportunity to work with a person be very open to their reasons why.

[14:39] Remind me to remind myself all the time diff or performance jim hasn't done their job.

[14:46] I will it helps shape shift their mind into adjusting value system in their why maybe

do you know why cuz it's only about weight loss and get that very common thing for people write in but you can only go so far and your day to day rituals are in your day-to-day expectations of,

i'm doing better and being more so weight loss can be amazing lunch.

[15:14] I want to help them get a little bit hey guys just wanted to take a moment and remind you that this podcast is brought to you by the michigan family womens clinic.

We believe in healthy environment families who can adapt to the stress in their life in order to build healthy family we start by caring for one person at a time if this message resonate with you,

can i invite you to schedule an online appointment at michigan family wellness dot com and if you're enjoying today's episode

go ahead and share this podcast with someone else who can benefit from today's empowering conversation alright guys lets get back to today's episode.

[15:52] Sure why to day maybe one think and are why i'm six months from now maybe it'll be different so i can help shape shift that process into creating a deeper meaning.

N ben and then helping down again be a better resource for the people in their life i think i think that maybe what makes.

Fantastic baby no this discussion is getting a little profound and i love that and like i said you know just being around just being within ear shot of ben you gotta learn something right

so let me try to say a little differently exactly what you're saying and correct me if i'm wrong but let's go with that weight loss example it's.

[16:27] It's the problem of the problem or it's like you're trying to help people focus on.

Not necessarily the weight loss but what they can gain what they can benefit from accomplishing that.

Weight loss of example it is the hope in losing the weight itself or is it really more about something deeper weather is spending more time with their family or contributing more to the world around them or just being a better partner spouse is that we are staying hundred percent

i want a percentage that i call patrick where you feel one cup i want to continue to feel that cock i need that to start feeling the cavs blow it so,

i'm exercises it has been an amazing resource to help people build of field many different cops again love and self respect and creating a better image of themselves and how that carries over

and two the work place into the family into the relationship into

being a better mother father a more understanding neighbor maybe less aggressive driver so it's been awesome seeing how exercise does transform people in many ways,

and again i tell this to my patients all the time but.

[17:35] Your health is your greatest asset it's not and how much you have in the bank it's not and how much you have in material things.

When you can take care of yourself when you have your health then like you said you can be there for your kids you can be there for your family you can be that better partner and spouse.

And you can be more productive at work your body is able to function with or talk about people who can't sleep don't have a good

paris sympathetic nervous system

don't necessarily go to the bathroom every day another just so constipated on plugged up and we can talk all day long about the health issues and the necessity of our society and our culture today but here's the thing ben

weather it's exercise whether it's chiropractic acupuncture massage therapy there are all these great conservative natural alternatives things that we can do.

And i really think i'm going again back to the culture and overall performance i really think that's where you go shine.

And i really think that's where people can just experience something different experience.

Personal attention to that you mention that the human component and so again i want to be very clear for a lesson or if you know it's not just to focus on,

the training and we talk a lot about the exercise part of it and no working out in the benefits and value of all that.

[18:54] Real quick i do wanna touch on there is the nutrition component that you are very involved with and there steve

mine second am entering component that you really involve can you walk us through those two things really quick great i think hand in hand a mindset can carry over to

you can apply that to any scenario so real talk about mind set with nutrition i gonna try to simplify it.

If people are coming here to remove better i just remind them of well certain types of foods cause certain amount of information that prevent,

no fluid movement so if i'm a candidate about the exercises initially i can disable these foods are bad for us because their preventing fluid movement during training.

And maybe that will then take on a life of its own because you know as well as i do the minute you start removing certain foods like breads and sugar.

I dont really have to tell people why they dont need to eat breads and sugars anymore to take out a life of its own,

go back to those foods after taking a certain amount of time off it's never it's never the way you remember that so anyway that i can you can put the lack of a better term trick people.

Not eating a little cleaner i think i think it was just to take out a life of its own and so were that maybe kind.

[20:07] I called and i'm like i get it you know so people start to create those moments in their own and then i can send you another another leg of nutrition so now that i have your undivided attention and can appreciate

is simplicity and just got married and sugar intake and monitoring bread and pasta intake i believe that i had the full attention.

Weather full attention i got better education comes in we can start explaining to them how to get better digestion how to achieve better nights sleep how to have.

Better balance energy so i use what ever drop off when i need to to get them eating cleaner,

i'm not everybody's ready to accept responsibility for holiday eat in halifax there body and the status of the body and the mechanism inside the body.

So even if i have to divert attention over two.

Again just getting better workout it will it will it will start to manifest itself into healthier habits i mean i dont need

awesome i just love the value land down for the listeners here and in terms of really getting an idea of the impact that,

working at the power performance gym can have and i wanna keep this person optimus but i'm thinking of a young lady and i think you might know who it is but can you just kinda talk is through.

[21:31] Her story because yes there was a major weight loss component there but for a listeners just so that he can get an idea of exactly what you're talking about what were discussing here on the podcast.

Can you just gonna walk us through her story and then it became more than just the weight loss i'm so glad you brought that up it really happening it is.

Just awesome story in a very simple um um she's a professional and she was you were talking to her,

she was approximately one hundred twenty five pounds over her ideal weight right so um.

[22:04] Would i can appreciate when somebody is that overweight know that the workings of the mind and the body connection

there not communicating very well so it's very easy for somebody to second guess their motivation and second guess their career because they're just not functioning

i'm help you know sell i'm she was no different so if she believed if i lose weight.

[22:30] I'm gonna get to that i will get to that number and my life is just gonna be laid out for me and everything's gonna happen exactly the way i envisioned it so i got i'd mention a launch point.

I don't believe you no i'm willing to pay if this is how we get starded let's get started what i found so awesome kyle.

Is there a fast forward to the hundred pounds.

We've become very good friends and through this journey and that's one thing we take off alot of pride in here with my refer to people as clients but these people are my friends no ma'am sir thank.

[23:02] About to go back to the boat to the store and she was at my house and we're just having a small gathering at the house.

What was interesting is her professional attitude and her in almost a distant shipment with her profession what are the exchange.

[23:17] Everything was the same and so she got a little angry with me kisses oh my gosh you're still a hundred pounds overweight.

And heard hello can you tell him the floor not use the spreadsheet and i'll leave italy and that moment she knew that i was going somewhere.

I said i said what is this just reminds us that you didn't have all unnecessary weight loss if she like you sign as.

A big black for your personal development but.

[23:49] If you don't again if you don't start to change the other things about your life if we don't again if we don't improve are attitude we don't improve,

the way we go about our days at four not looking to except certain responsibilities or maybe to places that we put ourselves then it doesn't matter if.

Order pump three hundred pounds two hundred pounds they're still had his change that wasn't necessary and that really just started.

Stream lining a complete change in focus where she was looking at what how do i spend my days how am i sleeping better how am i focus on meal tiny and nutrition portion control.

And so when the weight loss was gone.

Just start focusing on those rather ask you like a self discovery that i don't think i'm still awaiting my mind i still see that same person in the mirror that was slightly overweight so it shifted my responsibility from coach,

and weight loss into hey.

[24:47] You're great you're amazing this should prove to you that you can accomplish anything that you want and it just not the transformation one inch,

i got her how you lived your day is that the value system that she had in re approach and she has a launch back in her career i mean absolutely bolt in,

and she is just taking off on time.

[25:11] Just running away with her dreams and her goals in her new goal setting and just what i would the awesome discovery.

Weight loss get her to and she now.

Love yourself more if she appreciates the people in her life more she takes responsibility for the things she needs two and a true.

Change has manifest did the original goal to just lose weight and not spend nights been awesome to be apart of.

[25:41] Fantastic and i really appreciate you sharing that story i think the listeners are gonna benefit from you sharing that into me as i was listening to you it almost sounds like there was a change and where did she place her identity you know it's her identity in the physical body or is it

in the weightloss result in this pursuit.

All the weight loss you know where is that person actually holding their identity hundred percent understand and that's where it goes back when you said what i don't know what people need and so that square

when i wake up every day and when i asked god the world for gifts and two mifi ask if simply to get me the words give me the knowledge give me the understanding

i help someone push through whatever barrier on their it dept if there are experiencing today and so she actually helps me

i can't become a better leader become a better coach because i realize that this was so much more than you have realized before her

but it was a great reminder like this industry is much more

lifting dumb bells and having breakfast all those things are important but there is so much more work.

[26:50] Alright then the purpose of the michigan family womens podcasts is to be an audio library resources for the women mothers and families listening who want to learn more about celebrating their family wellness

and increasing their resiliency or that strength to adapt to the strengths and challenges in their life,

what are the ways we can push this is by asking i guess for practical applications

so what kinda women moms and families listening today start doing right now as a result of hearing your voice to elevate their health and family room on the simple if you are not really sure where to start

well then contact dr tyler contract with redone be powered impact i think it really

it can just start with a value system of creating maybe a list maybe right down what what is important to me and began trying to really break down and look at why why don't

what is it i want why is that important to me so i dont know that i necessarily answer your question because it's really open ended where some people need to practice maybe eating breakfast better in some people need to

your practice let me know.

It would be hard for me to tell her audience you need to start here but i think i just want people to be open minded to the fact that you don't have to have everything figured out you dont have to pretend to know what all i think god

the biggest gainer the people make it one day except.

[28:18] The fact that they don't have all of the answers in that's where people like myself and people like you can come in and we can help people

kind of holding shit this new priorities and get them action steps to start applying to like today then tomorrow and then you just hope it manifest you open grows into it blossoms in the something.

Much greater sell on the take away points would be its okay to be unsure its ok do not have everything,

figured out so im just gonna reach out to those special places i can help you create a new you

that's only that and i love just you focus on your right it is all about that journey and so you mentioned earlier having lunch points having starting points that's fantastic it doesn't necessarily matter how that looks for you weather it's you know like you mentioned in episode two really adding on

hydration focusing on not or whether it's focusing on breakfast meeting throughout the rest of the day

healthy snacking i mean there's so many different things you can do but again like you said it goes back to the journey the experience for you and when you're when you're committed.

That's what you're gonna get traction that's when you're gonna get that fly wheel,

where is it does become part of your lifestyle and then it just becomes automatic nothing are there any other resources that you connect with today is a great question i have been asked first of all in a very basic.

[29:40] Kinda google search no one website that has just been great for me is www dot merch olá dot com dr cola and i know you know him he's just.

The sky has assembled this awesome collection of articles and videos and did you know there is an.

Food invites and bought cindy has an easement just.

He has been such an amazing resource for really easy and people building business as far is just a really basic like im looking for someone with very simple information on how to deal with the head colder how to deal with,

back pain maybe some simple like arthritis or some simple i'm what i purchased man made diseases what a great a great resource.

I also like to think that family wellness i was also would also be our website and people that i would contact where people that are looking for a new i'm also i gotta do not sure what to google.

I'm using a place performance jam could be in and start points for that so i think i would be i am actually places to startup.

That really it was really interesting to me because i no no more dr place in my life there was a book that i was able to read but then i picked up a couple of years later and i just got.

[31:00] Leader without a title it was written by robin sharma just bought.

Was built around them different cables are different stories and what the book alternately talked about his greatness is a choice.

[31:14] So regardless of whether you're a janitor or a CEO.

That's great and your day to do the job to do your job as best you can with them with a task given talents that u have.

And how the world takes notice and how the world will recognize your efforts will recognize your enthusiasm,

i am for greatness and how and how the world is universally designed to reward those people,

that regardless of your title regardless,

who you think you are just wake up every day put two feet on the floor and say i'm going to make today a great day amin how bad.

[31:57] Rosanna something greater depths of feeling me.

For me i'm really helped i had a profound is changing and really about the person that i saw in the mirror i'm gonna have used.

[32:09] The story lines in it many many times from them just tell people that,

i can we don't have to have it figured out today we will be the sum of our behavior we will be the sum of our thoughts we will be that some of our actions so we can start now and shipping not scale into the more positive into the more forward thinking,

and the more community based thought process i'm that i just cant wait to see what the some of those daily behavior amount to for people i'm later on in their life so i really young i got alot.

[1:52] Music.

[1:58] Thanks for having a man it's a pleasure to be back excellent encourage everyone to really Circle back and listen to episode 0 0 2.

[2:07] Of the Michigan Family Wellness podcast where we actually talked with our guest today Dan Allison.

And they share the Mission Vision and values of power Performance gym and actually today that episode has been one of the most.

Downloaded episodes of the Michigan Family Wellness podcast so congratulations Dan obviously your messages.

And I'm delighted to have you back on the show here today glad to have the opportunity and glad to get the word out there and help

people I change your life for the better said we always do start with our famous two questions on the podcast you're so damn I've just told our families a little bit about you as the professional.

The one of the core values here as you know on the podcast is family.

So can you tell us a little bit more about you as a person and what does family look like for you.

[3:02] Grew up in Trenton Michigan currently live in Westland older brother younger sister to Step Brothers.

[3:12] Mother dad and stepmother in the couple cousins also in the area so.

[3:18] We're all in the Metro Detroit area and you know we love it here been here for a while I just really appreciate,

are listenership to be able to connect with the guests that we have on the podcast to thank you for that and another thing I love to stay here on the podcast is that we are smitten with the Mitten so I always ask my guests to share what they love about Michigan

there's a lot of things that I like him and you'll some things I don't like try to focus on the positive love summer is here love fall going to Tigers games like going to.

[3:53] Red Wings games in the winter like going up Norris and getting out hiking.

When you were saying just like around here families here and that's what kind of makes it worthwhile.

And if people go back and listen to episode 2 y'all still here you know you lived in Chicago for about.

2 years or year-and-a-half or something like that just under two years and you know there's lots of lots of great stuff out there but.

Home is where the heart is so,

The Mitten for sure so damn go ahead and get more in-depth because I really want the women mothers and families listening to today's episode.

To get value from your experiences your expertise and your.

Perspective to start from a framework or a ground-level you know what is the mission what is the vision what are the values again of the concept of training

give families give kids give athletes the most bang for their Buck training we're going to take them through a full assessment see everything is going on with them.

[4:57] And really design a program that's specifically for them you know whether your young ass weed or grandmother.

Whatever might be you know you're have a program that fits your needs your goals and we're going to guide you in a way.

That's going to lie to get there in the quickest safest manner possible personalized approach.

You could almost you know walk in and walk out without even being noticed that being said you could also go to the opposite end of that Spectrum go to some news other private gyms but you know may not get

attention or the direction that you would really need to really hit your goals and so that's why I appreciate just personalized attention to detail the family atmosphere over there at Power and.

That comes through in your mission vision and values so let's go ahead and let's not focus on the kids

we want to talk about today you know tell us about your training approach I know we are talking in our preach at you mention you know the joint by joint.

Approach you know for these younger athletes can you kind of tell us more about that by joint approach was just got him a general philosophy.

[6:06] We still review all of our training you know whether that's the young athlete or.

Gandia the grandmother example use the proper mobility and proper stability.

[6:19] You know he's joining the body and in layman's terms that just says we can move where we need to move and we're strong and still where we need to be and.

We use that to get our assessments and got our training so when.

[6:35] Kids come in we're going to see what joints they may need some work in either getting more Mobility or getting more stability.

[6:43] And we build a plan that is going to address those issues in the safest manner possible the following this this joint by joint approach so.

No bad positions joint position dictates muscle function so that being said no bad looking less no bad looking movement patterns you know there is there's always room for improvement.

[7:04] Great attention to detail with the actual movement the program is just kind of a guideline and you know comes down to the in the trenches connecting with the athlete.

Making sure everything is is looking smooth absolutely into these younger athletes from our parents and sometimes

our parents don't move that well and then we actually learn those movement patterns

when you think about it it's like you can tell your kids to go play outside you can tell them to run around and spend time with your friends and you know just be kids right.

Which is absolutely true that's that's so great to do on the surface but what I really think working with someone like yourself can offer is that.

Methodical approach you know you talked about the joint by joint approach whether that's preventing injury for a certain athletic season I mean gosh right now.

What's the fall season here we got the back to school programs going on with all the sports happening right now and I just think he's younger athletes these kids working with.

Trainer that can Mossad we take them through a movement pattern or breathing pattern just can provide so much benefit and.

[8:19] Not only in terms of performance but in terms of prevention would you agree with any of that most definitely, you know what I think I think the biggest thing was that we talked about in the last episode of weird together was

building a foundation quickly to finding a foundation for the prettiest kids.

Even little bit older athletes that maybe haven't trained before foundation would just kind of include a good breeding patterns number one if we can breathe correctly can't relax can't recover.

And from a being able to lift standpoint once these kids start doing some loaded lifts they're going to need to,

feel the brace properly and if you can't breathe properly it's going to be challenging and then also just having good clean fundamental movement patterns cell can the kids crawl can they skip can they balance on one leg for.

You know more than 10 seconds can they hold the top of a push-up can they hold up a body bodyweight squat without any problems can they give me a hip hinge.

In a little things like that doesn't have to be real intense but just some basic basic basic foundation work to restore some of those things can go a real long way even just some general walking Sledge stuff Growler stuff

just got a general work capacity so these kids aren't getting

gassed out at some of these practices that they have to go to.

Either low back pain or neck pain I know and they've been having this for a long time and I'll ask them okay well how long.

[9:43] And it's often going back to an injury that they occurred

where are they picked out when they were a kid and so I think this conversation is so relevant as a parent I would

definitely want my kids to be moving well and it moving and planes and patterns that are going to be conducive to battling performance like we mentioned but also prevention because honestly as adults that we.

Profoundly and significantly affect our lives more older you know we can talk about the Aegis musculoskeletal maturity okay so what happens is.

At 25 years old but your skeletal system is fully formed you know those bones are going to completely ossify and classify those joints are going to be fully formed.

But up until that point and everything is moving and changing so especially when we're talking about these kids who are e235 10-12 years old.

[10:37] Everything is changing and everything is moving daily I would argue if not even

hourly because of all the different hormonal changes and things like that and I don't want to go into too much detail here we can talk more about Wolff's law and you can look up research on that what I essentially want to get at is you have to send those signal sohn and muscle

they won't change or develop unless you actually send those signal.

[11:00] What we're not saying is bring your kids into the gym and you know dance going to take them through Olympic weightlifting and Crossfit and all these things that's not what we're saying but we are.

You can do this in a methodical and thoughtful and targeted way,

to really get like what we're saying with these benefits and value of performance and prevention officer you know where I've heard whether it's with me or whatever,

and I know saying hey go live now it's getting that man with a staff or a coach was going to.

You'll be able to show them the right exercise or the right the right progression so the right dose at the right time,

no not every kid may be ready for a barbell back squat right off the bat which it's a fantastic exercise

I may be a coach

to work a little bit better as maybe start with bodyweight squat holding onto some straps bodyweight box squat things like that and I'm going to build up that patterns easy parents don't see a bar in the back they're comfortable with it start loading them up with a

goblet kettlebell front dumbbell have them work with that for a while.

[12:10] The other backs not being loaded at all spine is is staying safe by the time they've done a couple months of those you know they may be ready for a barbell front squat.

And you know by that time they know exactly what they're doing they know safety breathing mechanics you know things of that nature cell getting your kids in

with a program that has progression to it that's thawed out based upon their level of Readiness their willingness to learn traduce correctly at a young age you can be something that can benefit them for the rest of their lives

we learn how to move from our parents and watching our you know our folks move around and so if your son is going to go try out for the football team but really haven't learned how to move properly for a linebacker position you know that

probably hurt themselves pretty bad and then you know be out of commission for That season or the next season or you know even worse maybe even for the rest of their life so I definitely,

that what you have to offer these families is of Great Value and I want to go into more of that value as well because.

[13:07] Gosh I mean were talking about exercise here Dan and we know I mean there is a lexicon of literature.

That supports the physiologic changes the benefits of just simple exercise drug-free exercise there is nothing out there's there is no drug out there.

[13:24] That can do what just simple exercise and movement can do not only for your body.

[13:29] But for your brain as well so when you talk about these kids that might have their struggling with maybe a mood disorder or a neurocognitive issue you know the prevalence in the rise of autism and Asperger's.

[13:41] Gosh I can't think of how exercise could hurt that you could only benefit them so especially if you're kid maybe they're not.

Going out for the football team maybe they're not doing hockey and swimming and tennis and all these things maybe they're having you know some serious health concerns and you just want them to start moving because that movement is so important for your brain

all of the joint information from our where are muscles are in space where are joints are in space all of that is sent up to the brain so if you're talking about how can I help my kids brainfire correctly are just even with concentration gosh Dam

spend less time in front of the TV do better in school and increase their cognitive performance.

Exercise is a fantastic way to do that and what better way to do that with a coach like yourself Dan in a methodic and a functional way I want to also touch on.

Human growth hormone okay so this is very important and I've read tons of research that suggests okay for those of you who don't know human growth hormone is one of the most.

[14:48] Powerful hormones that we have in our entire body when we take in a synthesized form really doesn't have that profound effect

as if we were just to make it on her own and the thing is Dan when

we get stressed out and we don't exercise our brain does not make this hormone on its own so again back to signaling you got to send the right signals and here's the thing Dan when you exercise it was specifically when you strength and condition train like what we're talking about here,

that is the primary stimulus for signaling the release of human growth hormone and we can talk all day

about the benefits of human growth hormone that stimulates the breakdown of fat cells so you have better blood sugar control it's especially going to help with that growing athlete those younger kids who are going to are forming their bones are growing their joints are figuring out the right places.

And gosh I can't even we haven't even mentioned Chiropractic adjustments yet I just think that there is such a great pairing between simple conservative Chiropractic adjustments.

You know and what you do with the kids and trends of the training part of that because again these kids are growing and changing and they're not skeletally immature until they're 25 so.

There's so much that you can do in these younger ages.

[16:05] Can work together so I guess the moral of the story is between the both of us we try to put the kids in the best position possible get his joints and his or her joints in the best position possible.

When cows adjusting number when I'm doing strength training your Mobility exercises with them.

And doing all of all of those things in the correct joint positions putting some strength training on top of that allows them to sort of hit save on those good positions and.

If you have to stay in them a little bit longer elhence being a little bit healthier on the field or on the court just increasing their General I work capacity and.

Ability to be healthy

over long-term now I know you're really big into foundation so let's actually go back to a foundational component of training philosophy which is nutrition.

Nutrition when you're training these kits okay we'll just tie it back into some points you're just making about brain health Kyle food is a drug and going to have an effect on.

[17:06] Neurotransmitter is busy with her brain does and what it tells our body to do the moon it's going to be in order to be in and just the state of Readiness or how we're going to feel

two trainer player sports sell we don't deal with these kids and say Hey you have to completely knock out everything you're eating and eat this way or that way in Odessa

talk to him and see what they're eating for breakfast or see what they're eating before they come and see if they're eating the night before they get in that first or second workout and they're going through a little bit of conditioning or even just some simple.

[17:34] Basic strength training stuff and they start losing color a little bit and look like they're getting sick on X Out of Time it comes from having.

Apple juice and cereal for breakfast or some sort of sugary type thing like that but they're their darn delicious but there's better times to eat on my cell.

It always your delicious but why you just maybe have some water some eggs and some fruit and see how you feel next time you come in and sometimes out of time this morning oh my God time times better than last time you know so getting there.

Getting a sugary breakfast is out of there and really drinking much of anything but water or practices before workout is really just kind of a waste of time,

you're just making yourself kind of feel more out of shape than what you really are and I really maximizing your potential and.

[18:22] I'll save the save the goodies for after the activity has some fun with it and don't get too out of control,

not only is how we move and how we trained very important at a young age but also to go along with what we're saying here about nutrition.

The way that we teach our kids how to eat at the fuel that we put into our bodies is so imperative that those younger ages because absolutely,

skyrocketing rates of type 2 adult onset diabetes obesity cardiovascular disease you know all these things are major societal issues in our culture.

[19:05] And all this preventable all of it is

great ways to accomplish those goals

how to use of pharmaceutical medications and surgery so I can't for the service that you're inviting the community

workouts for games are these B's over High pre-workout stimulants and I know he has all see me drinking my coffee and.

[19:34] Like caffeine and stuff like that body I know explode and,

jack3d C4 stuff like that not good stay away from that lot more harm than good kids think it's like steroids it doesn't do anything besides get you caffeinated and itchy and irritable and all this good stuff.

So stay away from that drink water maybe have a little bit of coffee.

And just get your head right there are definitely research to suggest in different things that can be organic

things that actually do boost your performance and exercise you mentioned coffee organic

coffee it's the extras it's the fillers that are going to ultimately mess up your gut you mentioned those pre-workout shakes and everything

better alternatives food-based to I mean gosh we could definitely organic

beat in terms of nitric oxide production and all that so damn the purpose of the Michigan Family Wellness podcast is to be an audio library resource for the women mothers and their family wellness and increasing their resiliency or

to the stress and challenges in their life one of the ways we accomplish this is by asking Our Guest for practical.

So damn what can the women the moms in the families listening today.

[20:54] Start doing as result of hearing your voice to elevate their Health and Family Wellness will throw one out there for the the moms out there he didn't corporate the exercise push away is or are pull away so we're going to push away.

The kids cereal and apple juice and all the garbage at breakfast maybe try out eggs fresh fruity set organic coffee water maybe some different vegetables things like that for your your breakfast and your child's breakfast and you're going to feel a lot more

alert awake and productive throughout the beginning of the day ever on the moodlede little bit more stable and go I'll be able to.

[21:29] You'll be better version of yourself for the kids out there eat that breakfast don't be stubborn your parent and from of movement standpoint get moving around doesn't have to be heavy powerlifting stuff which can be fantastic if you got a good coach out there but let's get on the ground.

Do some crawling do some rocking let's do some bodyweight squatting lunging Farmers carries no picking up,

a couple moderately heavy dumbbells kettlebells something you can safely pick out my sweat back to get up carried as far as can set it down y'all do that a handful of times dragons clubs around and have some fun be ready to start loading up.

Squatting deadlifting if you want to learn Olympic lifting seek out

you know someone older than you who's qualified to teach Alaska lot of questions learn how to do the movements of the best technique that you can times not always going to be perfect but learning how to do

your movements very well will allow you to get strong and do it for a long time.

One of the things asked a lot of questions I can't emphasize that enough really ask questions because that's Altima Lee going to lead you to the most relevant and the most truthful information which is what you're looking for and against.

[22:39] But also about breakfast.

Making some simple changes to their breakfast especially with the back-to-school time of the year was busy morning schedules with their breakfast in the morning but honestly from what I see.

If you're getting up at 4 or 5 in the morning and you're trying to get the kids go in and get them on the bus by 6:00 6:30 or anything like that there's just so much going on so early in the morning.

[23:09] And you need so much digestion signaling to really break down those protein in those fat so if you're doing that I would almost suggest like you were saying Dan like go for that fresh fruit that's going to be much easier to digest when you're on the Run

later on in the day maybe mid-morning when your blood sugar is getting a little bit lower.

Then reach for that meat and that protein and a good healthy.

[23:35] You're going to be more calm your parasympathetic nervous system is going to be functioning better.

And that's going to allow you to make stomach acid into make all the lipase is to break down those macronutrients because I just think it's too it's too much to handle for most people.

It's just too much to handle first thing in the morning at 5 a.m. to try and wolf down a bunch of meat and an avocado it's just too much overwhelming signaling on your digestive system is my main point there would you agree for it but

fruteria you know just drinking some water and some apple cider vinegar something to settle down the stomach first thing in the morning can be great

but you're more or less moral of the story is like hack away the unessential sell the family get the box sugary cereals out of there the from concentrated juices out of there all that stuff you know you had that stuff away any choice you make after that's probably give you a little bit better and going to be an improvement

Michigan Association DIY can go to their website they've got a lot of great resources on there for training youth athletes and lots of great ideas ways to find Qualified

professionals your kid plays baseball.

[24:47] Eric cressey. Com is great ugly maybe detail all these in the show notes strength.com.

A lot of great information there on.

[25:02] Some of the things I was talking about like crawling and rocking and restoring some basic Foundation movement patterns Tim Anderson on their does a fantastic job.

[25:10] Educating and detailing how to do a lot of really helpful things,

where are the hockey communities at so guys stay active on their name on there is coach Allison da2 my Twitter handle hit me up on any of those platforms and I love to.

[25:35] Well thanks again Dan and if you're listening to this podcast and this message is resonating with you I want a highly encourage you to head on over to Michigan family wellness.com.
